Plugging Into Nature
My goal in writing this book Plugging Into Nature was to encourage young children to get outdoors and explore what nature has to offer. I titled it Plugging Into Nature as a reminder that you don't always have to be plugged into an electronic to have fun and create experiences, you can plug into what the earth has always offered, nature.
I chose to focus my book on young children because I observed that people I knew who were exposed to the outdoors at an early age often made going into nature a lifelong healthy habit. I also noticed that people, who did not experience outdoor activities such as hiking or camping as children, were less interested in trying outdoor activities as teens and adults.
I got the idea to write a book because when I attended Del Mar Pines School, I wrote and illustrated a book every year, from Kindergarten through 5th grade, so I knew I could do it. I also wanted my message to be heard by both young children and their parents, who might be reading the book with their children and hopefully talking about how fun going camping might be for them as a family. I read this story to my 5 year old granddaughter. She truly enjoyed it and was asking when she could join the Girls Scouts.

this book will definitely teach young children about the importance of getting outside! the pictures are phenomenal and convey a great message. this is the perfect picture book for kids that have already started to read, as it ends with a beautiful life lesson.

Awesome book for encouraging not only kids but Adults to “ plug kinto nature “ and explore. It has nice drawing of nature, easy for kids to understand why nature is amazing and through the eyes of a girl. Absolutely wonderful and must read.

My cousin shared this book with me. It has an important message about screen time versus getting outside to enjoy nature. It was an age appropriate story about a little girl going camping but reluctant to unplug! Perfect for a 3-5 year old.

This is a book that will inspire young children to think about what is out there to be explored. The story line brings back childhood memories that I had as a youth. This book is intended to ignite the mind of any young child that has not experienced the outdoors an what nature has to offer.
